dll error on startup windows 8.1

Method 2: Use the 32-bit version of Regsvr32 to register a 32-bit DLL on a 64-bit version of WindowsIf you receive an error when registering a 32-bit DLL on a 64-bit version of Windows, follow these steps:

Regsvr32 must initialize the COM library before it can call needed COM library functions and uninitialize the library when it shuts down. These error messages occur if an attempt to initialize or uninitialize the COM library is unsuccessful.

For example, typing regsvr32 icwdial.dll returns this error message because the Icwdial.dll file is not self-registerable. If you suspect a corrupted version of Dllname is in memory, try restarting your computer or re-extract the original version of the file.

Regsvr32 must initialize the COM library before it can call needed COM library functions and uninitialize the library when it shuts down. These error messages occur if an attempt to initialize or uninitialize the COM library is unsuccessful. For example, the Ole32.dll file may be corrupted or may be the wrong version.

From Winerror.h, 0x00000485 = 1157 (ERROR_DLL_NOT_FOUND). This means "One of the library files that are needed to run this application cannot be found." For example, typing regsvr32 missing.dll returns this error message if the Missing.dll file is not found.

From Winerror.h, 0x00000002 = 2 (ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND). This means "The system cannot find the file specified." In other words, a dependent DLL was not found. For example, typing regsvr32 icwdial.dll with Tapi32.dll (a dependency) missing returns this error message..

From Winerror.h, 0x000001f = 31 (ERROR_GEN_FAILURE). This means "A device attached to the system is not functioning." This behavior can occur if you try to register a Win16 .dll file. For example, typing regsvr32 dskmaint.dll returns this error message.

Since hal.dll errors appear before Windows has completely started, you probably won't be able to properly restart your computer. Unfortunately, you'll need to force a restart instead, which you can do by pressing or holding down the physical power button.

A clean install will fix any software-based (corruption, etc.) cause of any hal.dll error you're seeing, but it's something you should only do if you're sure your hard drive is physically working properly and you've tried all other software troubleshooting.

These are some of the solutions to fix the rundll errors. At times, even just rebooting or scanning your Windows 8.1 machine with any powerful antivirus or antimalware software can help you out. However, Windows Registry is a vital part of Windows, so have extreme caution while editing or deleting any registry key; a small mistake can corrupt your entire system. Hence, before performing any operation on registries just have a backup. But how to backup Windows registry files? Don't worry, by making use of the best third-party tool like Remo MORE you can easily back up all your Windows 8.1 registry files and restore them back when needed.

Windows 10 updates bring many new features to your device, but sometimes they cause issues as well. Users have reported experiencing an error regarding the LogiLDA.dll file, which is a Logitech file. It's present on your computer if you have any Logitech devices connected to the computer.

DLL files often fall victim to corruption, go missing, or get deleted. Many websites were formed to help you download and replace a .dll file. Download the LogiLDA.dll file from a trusted source to fix the error message.

Logitech Gaming Software is a new application to keep your hardware up-to-date. First, uninstall Logitech Download Assistant. Then, download the new software from the Logitech website to fix .dll errors without losing update functionality.

Do you have any startup item that utilizes the Bluetooth capability (In my case I had Skype using my Bluetooth adapter)? If so, please try to disable any such application and check if you still receive this error message. If the error is still seen, please un-install and then re-install the drivers for Bluetooth. You might find this video useful when updating the drivers (this video is good for Windows 8.1 as well):

What update? I have tried with no success to update the drivers that are on the Dell website and still get the error. Your tech support team could not resolve it either as per my telephone call last week.

After Norton 360 Deluxe update 22.22.7.11, I now get NSc.exe - Bad Image C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour\mdsnNSP.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error -- Error Status: 0x0000022 message whenever I receive any notification popup message from Norton or when I try to access the Message Center. I have the 5 user version running on Windows 8.1 and never experienced this error message prior to the 22.22.7.11 update on 8/5/2022. I am unable to clear this message until I first cancel the popup message or Message Center screen. Any suggestions?

Also, although not technically required, have you restarted your computer since the update? Be sure you are using the Restart command. Not Shutdown and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1, 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.

Yes, I have run LiveUpdate several times since the 22.22.7.11 Product Update and only received Protection Updates, but no 2nd Product Update, thus I am still at 22.22.7.11 version. Furthermore, when the new 22.22.7.11 initial load classic screen first came up there were 4 unread messages in my Message Center. Trying to read them, in addition to the Bonjour error popup was another Norton screen about Explorer no longer being supported, even though my default browser has been Edge for nearly a year. Thinking there was another default browser setting in Norton, I clicked on an update icon on that screen which then did a complete refresh of Edge after which I checked About Microsoft Edge which said I had to restart Edge to complete the update. Unfortunately, I forgot to note the current Edge version at that time. So, I exited Edge and tried to relaunch which got several minutes of small spinning circle which stopped without launching. I repeated that launch sequence several times with no success. Finally I got no response or circle when I clicked on the Edge icon with no launch, so that is when I did a Restart command from Settings / Power in desperation. After restarting, Edge did launch OK and About Edge showed version 104.0.1293.47 (64 bit). So, I no longer get that browser unsupported message, but still get the Bonjour\mdndNSP.dll error. I simply move that Bonjour error popup to the side and can read all the Norton messages and reports just fine, then when I close the Norton message, I am able to terminate the Bonjour popup and close Norton. If there was supposed to be a 2nd Product Update to correct the Bonjour error, then I didn't get it.

Bonjour was installed on my computer on 4/10/2020, the same date as Apple Software Update and Bonjour is listed as an Apple application. My daughter has an iPhone and has infrequently used my computer to update or backup her iPhone and iTunes, so I assume that is why Bonjour is there. But the point is that it has been there prior to the Norton 360 22.22.7.11 Product Upgrade and yet never reared its ugly head with the error while viewing Norton notification popups, Message Center or Scan Reports on prior versions of 360. Something in this Norton Upgrade must be trying to interface with Bonjour. So far, I have not seen this error popup while interfacing with any other application. I tried to STOP the Bonjour Service and END the Bonjour Service task, but the error popup did not go away and Bonjour Service restarted on a reboot even though I cannot find it in the Startup list, unless it is included in the startup for iCloud Services or iTunes Helper. So not wanting to Uninstall yet, I did try a Repair on the program, but nothing changed after a subsequent Restart. I guess I will have to live with the error unless Norton Support discovers their problem. Thanks for your interest and suggestions.

Same Problem, I don't have Apple software or Bonjour installed but Norton is not working correctly, keeps throwing up this error ever few minutes and it takes 17 clicks to make it go away. SOLUTION NORTON?

Same error here (NSc.exe - Bad Image), on a brand-new HP ENVY x360 2-in-1 laptop running Win11 x64 with Norton 360 Deluxe (5 Devices). I don't think this computer utilizes Bonjour; but I wasn't going to uninstall it...at least, not yet. Note--my Norton version is 22.22.7.14.

The RunDLL file is stored in the path of C:\Windows\System32. Once the file is corrupted and RunDLL error appears, replacing the corrupted RunDLL file should be the easiest method to fix the error.

As RunDLL error might occur due to some bugs on the system, you can try updating your Windows. Although Windows 10 can download and install the latest updated automatically, you need to check for updates manually sometimes.

RunDLL is a legitimate Windows file that executes/loads .dll (Dynamic Link Library) modules which too can be legitimate or sometimes malware related. A RunDLL "Error loading... message usually occurs when the .dll file that was set to run at startup in the registry or as a scheduled task has been deleted. Windows is trying to load this file(s) but cannot locate it since the file was mostly likely removed during an anti-virus or anti-malware scan. However, an associated orphaned registry entry still remains and is telling Windows to load the file when you boot up. Since the file no longer exists, Windows will display an error message. You need to remove this registry entry so Windows stops searching for the file when it loads. 2ff7e9595c
